Field & Action photography is about being where things are happening and being ready when the moment hits.
This work covers movement, live events, motorsports, rodeo, public incidents, emergencies, community activity, and other real-world situations where timing matters and conditions can change quickly.
The goal is not to manufacture drama.
It is to document what is actually happening — clearly, honestly, and with enough context to make the image matter.
Motorsports & Action
Fast-moving events, vehicles, competition, impact, motion, and the moments that happen between the obvious shots.
Rodeo & Western Events
Barrel racing, horses, riders, arenas, working environments, western events, and the energy that comes with them.
Emergency & Public Safety Scenes
Fires, emergency response, public safety incidents, severe weather impacts, and developing situations photographed from safe, lawful locations when conditions allow.
Community & Live Events
Fairs, gatherings, public events, local programs, performances, nonprofit events, and other moments that tell the story of a community.
Breaking & Developing Situations
Real-world events as they unfold, with attention to timing, context, environment, and accuracy.
Field photography requires more than showing up with a camera.
It means watching the scene.
Reading movement.
Knowing when to wait and when to shoot.
Working around changing light, weather, crowds, distance, access, and fast-moving conditions.
I focus on strong composition, clean timing, and honest documentation without over-staging or forcing the moment into something it was not.
Some photographs are planned.
Field work usually is not.
The light changes.
The subject moves.
Access shifts.
Weather turns.
The moment disappears.
That is part of the work.
My job is to stay aware, work with what is actually there, and come away with images that hold onto the energy and truth of the scene.
